The bed, donated by the Fresno City Fire Chief’s Foundation, is painted and shaped like a fire engine.
“Having a dressing change performed is especially frightening, especially for children. This table will help decrease their fear and make the procedure less painful,” said Sandra Yovino, Leon S. Peters Burn Center nurse manager. “Thanks to the Fresno city fire chief and firefighters, our pediatric burn survivors will have something special to look forward to during their visits.”
The Peters Burn Center is the only round-the-clock, fully staffed burn center between Los Angeles and Sacramento. Last year, Community performed more than 9,800 burn therapy procedures and nearly half of those treated were children.
Firefighters will meet to deliver the exam bed at 9:45 a.m. in Community Regional’s rotunda, located on the west side of the hospital across from the three-story parking structure at the corner of Divisadero Street and Clark Avenue.
