| MedWatch's Cindy Suryan was named one of the Central Valley's 100 most influential women by Lance Cardoza's Business Street publication. |
A reception was held on March 13 to honor the women at the Downtown Club in Fresno. Among “The Influential Women 100” chosen for 2008 were Community’s Wanda Holderman, CEO of Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital; Sandra Yovino, nurse manager Leon S. Peters Burn Center; Cindy Suryan, host of Community’s MedWatch; and Dr. Joan Voris, associate dean for the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program. Suryan and Dr. Voris also were honored in the “Power 25” selection of the event.
Lance Cardoza, president and publisher of Business Street, said the award is meant to honor the most powerful and recognizable women.
“Business Street is extremely proud to have been able to honor so many influential and deserving women,” Cardoza said. “We congratulate them on their achievements and what they’ve done for their communities.”
The women were chosen from diverse areas and come from a wide range of fields. Their backgrounds range from education to health care, and city and county government to business executives.
All 100 women are featured on the Influential Women 100 Web site and are included in the March edition of Business Street.
