Over the past five years, the shootout has raised more than $1.3 million for local charities. Rob Saroyan, vice president of fund development, said besides the contribution, the day brings awareness about deserving Community programs to Valley residents.
“It [shootout] raises substantial dollars for charity – it’s been doing that for several years now and we’re fortunate to be a beneficiary,” he said. “It’s also a way to highlight how important our work is here at Community for all who pass through our doors.”
For recognition of Community and its major donor-investors, caddies and volunteers wore bibs displaying logos of Community Regional Medical Center’s Level 1 Table Mountain Rancheria Trauma Center and Leon S. Peters Burn Center.
Celebrities at the event included such well knowns as Marcus Allen (Hall of Famer for the NFL’s Raiders), Dennis Haysbert (star of television’s “The Unit” and Allstate Insurance Spokesperson) and Gregory Itzin (star of “24” playing the role of president of the United States.)
World Golf Hall of Fame member Lee Trevino and rising star Charles Howell III were newcomers to the field joined by PGA tour professionals Jason Gore, Brian Henninger, Scott McCarron, Mike Springer, Charles Warren and Nick Watney and LPGA tour professionals Erica Blasberg, Natalie Gulbis, Hana Kim, Taylor Leon, Brittany Lincicome, Stephanie Louden, Carin Koch, Angela Stanford and Suzy Whaley.
