Clovis hospital tops 1,000 surgeries in a month
First phase of Clovis expansion to begin this fall
Tour Clovis Community with Cindy Suryan:
Thinking back 20 years ago, Craig Castro remembers the news about a hospital opening out in Clovis, but never began to imagine what a part he would play in its success today.
Now at the helm of Clovis Community Medical Center as CEO for a little more than two years, Castro is leading his team through a two-phase expansion that continues to establish the hospital’s dedication to building leading-edge facilities and providing superior service for area residents.
On Sept. 19, Clovis Community broke ground on its newest expansion with a special ceremony and the opening of a new parking lot on the east side of the hospital.
Phase 1 of the two-part project includes a $20 million, 22,500-square-foot expansion for the outpatient care center.
The first floor includes expansion of the Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center and a dedicated four-room endoscopy suite with pre-operative, post-operative, recovery and exam rooms.
The second floor features four new operating rooms including pre-operative, post-operative and recovery areas, as well as the most advanced in vitro fertilization center (Clovis Community Fertility Center) between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
There also is added parking for patients’ convenience.
Phase 2, future expansion plans include a new five-story bed tower featuring all private rooms, which will double the number of inpatient beds and expand the number of valuable ICU rooms.
The emergency department expansion calls for nearly doubling the number of treatment rooms to 38.
Plans include 12 new state-of–the-art, inpatient surgical suites, doubling the total number of operating rooms to 22.
Clovis’ littlest patients and their moms will have a new special care nursery in the Women’s and Infant’s Pavilion. This eight-bed unit will serve babies needing more specialized care. An array of other women’s services and surgeries in addition to birthing will be offered – all in accommodations suited for women and their families.
A new three-story parking structure is planned near the main entrance.
Clovis Community has a reputation of providing its patients with top facilities and care.
The Weight-Loss Surgery Center at Clovis Community has been designated a Center of Excellence and deemed best in the state in 2007 and 2008.
Clovis Community also provides one-stop sports medicine with expanding surgical facilities, expert surgeons, top patient satisfaction and outpatient rehabilitation with physical therapists dedicated to orthopedic and sports medicine patients.
The Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center is the Valley’s resource for detection and intervention of breast conditions, and has been a model for similar facilities across the country.
The Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Future Generations Center provides care for Clovis Community's smallest patients and their moms in the area’s premier family birthing center.
The Valley population has more than doubled since the hospital opened, and is expected to continue to increase dramatically over the next decade. New highways criss-cross the city where none existed before, and the demand for quality health care is greater than ever.
“This expansion is part of our commitment to superior service and convenience for patients that Clovis Community is known for,” Castro said.
