They are at the patient’s side during the most joyous times in life such as the birth of a child. They are also there as the patient faces a serious illness, offering a smile and skilled hand when patients need it the most.

They are the roughly 1,700 men and women who make up Community Medical Centers’ nursing

staff. They all are health care heroes with one goal in mind, to help patients get back to their loved ones and resume their normal lives

As a way to celebrate National Nurses Week (May 6 through 12), this is the second installment of a series of “Health Care Heroes” who describe their profession and why they chose it.

Meet registered nurse Stephanie Cole from the Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital. She loves to share the story about when her family knew she should be a nurse and she’s proud of where she is working now.
