First phase of Clovis expansion to begin this fall
Tour Clovis Community with Cindy Suryan:
As Clovis Community Medical Center management continues to work with physicians, staff, architects and the City of Clovis to develop updated 10- and 25-year master plans for the 117-acre hospital campus, groundbreaking on the first phase of expansion is slated for October.
The $20 million first phase calls for a two-story, 22,500-square-foot add-on to the outpatient care facility.
The first floor will include expansion of the Marjorie E. Radin Breast Care Center and a dedicated four-room endoscopy suite with associated pre-operative, post-operative, recovery and exam rooms. The second floor will feature four new operating rooms and associated pre-operative, post-operative and recovery areas, as well as the only Level 3 in-vitro fertilization center between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Clovis Community will also gain 286 new parking spaces in the first phase of expansion, scheduled for completion in fall 2009.
“We have had a 45% surgical volume growth over the past two years,” Clovis Community CEO Craig Castro said. “This expansion brings top facilities and leading-edge equipment and treatment to better serve our patients.”
Castro also said the expansion will create up to 100 new jobs.
“These will be higher-paying jobs such as surgical techs, nurses and an array of clinical positions,” he said. “This expansion is certainly part of our commitment to convenience and superior customer service for our patients, which Clovis Community is known for.”
Clovis Community’s service area is projected to see a population increase of 15,000 within the next five years and a 43% increase in overall growth in the next two decades.
The hospital’s master plan currently calls for an addition to the outpatient surgery center, more parking, a five-story bed tower with the next few years and another five-story bed tower in the future.
